What is a hacker typer?
A hacker typer is a page that prints pre-written source code as you type, so any keystrokes produce a convincing wall of scrolling code.
Every keystroke prints the next chunk of source code regardless of which key you press, so you can type nonsense at speed and produce a convincing wall of code. The letters you hit make no difference to what appears, which is exactly why it works: you can look at the person instead of the keyboard.
How do you use the hacker typer?
Click into the terminal, press any keys at all, and code appears. Go fullscreen first, then press Escape when you are done.

Is a hacker typer safe to use?
Yes. It runs entirely in your browser tab, installs nothing, and has no access to your files, your network or anything outside the page.
The page prints text that was already downloaded with it. It makes no network requests while you type and cannot read anything on your computer. Closing the tab removes every trace of it. If a site claiming to be a hacker typer asks you to download or install something, that is not a hacker typer.
Does a hacker typer actually hack anything?
No. It is a visual toy. The code is written in advance and printed a few characters at a time as you press keys.
Nothing is executed, no connection is made, and the keys you press are discarded after advancing the printer. It is the software equivalent of a film prop.
Why does code appear when I press the wrong keys?
Because the key you press is ignored. Each keystroke simply advances a pre-written listing by a few characters, so any typing looks fluent.
This is what makes the effect convincing at speed. Real typing of real code is slow and full of corrections; this is neither, which is precisely why it reads as cinematic hacking rather than as programming.
What code is actually shown on the screen?
C-style systems code written for this page — a network receive queue and a key-derivation routine, chosen because they look dense and plausible.
It is original filler written to look like kernel or crypto source rather than a dump of any real project, so there is no licensing question if you screen-record it for a video.
Can I use this in a video or a stage prop?
