About the hacker typer
Every keystroke prints the next chunk of source code regardless of which key you press, so you can type nonsense at speed and produce a convincing wall of scrolling green text. Press Escape to stop, or go fullscreen first for the full effect.
How to use it
- Click into the terminal, then hammer any keys you like — the letters you press make no difference.
- Go fullscreen so the browser chrome disappears and the terminal fills the display.
- Press Escape to leave fullscreen when someone walks over.
Questions
Does this actually hack anything?
No. It prints pre-written source code one chunk per keystroke and touches nothing on your computer or anyone else’s. It is a visual toy.
Why does the code appear when I press the wrong keys?
That is the whole trick. Each keypress advances the printer by a few characters, so any typing at all produces fluent-looking code.
Can I use this in a video?
Yes. It is free to screen-record for videos, streams and presentations.
Does this cost anything or need an account?
No. Every tool on the site is free, needs no sign-up, and works immediately in the browser with nothing to install.
Will my screen stay awake while it runs?
Turn on Keep awake and the browser holds a wake lock, which keeps the display on with no input until you leave the page.
